Alliance Kicks Off New Class of JLA

The Alliance kicked off a new class of Junior Leadership Alcorn (JLA), a competitive leadership program for sophomores and juniors from area high schools. The program is offered annually and students learn about how local government works, visit top tourist sites and tour a local industry. Additionally, this year, students will participate in a Shark Tank-type competition where teams will develop a business plan and a pitch presentation around a new company idea which they will present to a panel of business people. "The students learning about leadership through entrepreneurship in this hands-on exercise," said Lane Yoder, Community Development Director and JLA Coordinator.
